WP4 participated in the workshop Exotic Matter organized by the Desing Research Lab (DRL) of the University of the Arts Berlin (UdK) on the 6th of October. The workshop was given by Clemens Winkler and Lukas Fransiskievicz and was designed to explore ideologies of materiality that seem mostly counter-intuitive and strange to the experiences in our physical surroundings.

We started with an excersie in creative writing taking passages from the Scifi Novel Roadside Picnic by the Strugatsky Brothers, as inspiration for own mysterious alien material fantasies.

Next we set out to make gifs representing or inspired by our research using photo, video and animation techniques. We tried to capture the exotic aspects of our explorations and translate it via subtle stop-motion narratives.

Check out the results in the gifs below and the ArcIntex Instagram feed.

I am a chemist/material scientist with a fascination and passion for design and fashion. I am a driven and creative person with a hands-on mentality and some experience with polymers, organic synthesis and coatings/formulation. I'm quite sociable and enjoy working with people from all backgrounds and disciplines. I also have a creative side, I have been sketching fashion designs since I was very young and I'm interested in learning how to execute them better. Additionally. I have dabbled in graphic design, as a freelancer. My dream is to combine chemistry and fashion together and synthesize beautiful textiles and garments.
